A picnic in the middle of nowhere: that is exactly what we did two months ago, at Tad Xai (waterfalls). If you decide to go there, make sure you have a 4×4 or a motorbike, you will have around 15km of offroad drive. These waterfalls are on the way to Phabat Phonsan, Road 13 to the South, around 70km away from Vientiane.
We were all alone, only the sound of the waterfalls to accompany our picnic and our endless conversations and laughs. No 3G, not even phone network and no loud music. Just us. Unlike the other waterfalls I use to go, there are neither restaurants or salaa, so we just brought with us these local mattress, a saad.
The picnic consisted in a grilled fish and a papaya salad with sticky rice. The orange papaya salad ? Hubbie chose it a bit too ripe luckily, it didn’t change the taste. Next time, I’d like to have a “traditional” picnic: sandwich, some chips,, some cherry tomatoes and a bottle of wine ! Maybe next time Hubbie will let me do it in a Frenchie way 😉

In April, we had a swim there. It was a bit dryer than the pictures above, but under a hot hot weather… Well, it was still pleasant. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is the right spot to go, definitely !
I’ve just been there this Saturday on a wonderful yoga session! It’s a magical place! First we had a yoga listening to the sound of water and facing the waterfall and later a swim. If you climb up you will see beautiful view and if you are lucky you might even get a fish spa! Almost nobody there! I love the place!
